Inlay or onlayWhen a decay (cavity) becomes too large or a filling would not result a
stable solution, than we should use inlay or onlay. Simple saying,
inlay or onlay is laboratory made large fillings.
Inlay is used inside the cusp tips, within the wall or within the contours of the tooth.
Onlay has larger size than inlay, extending out over one or more of the cusps and covers the chewing surface of the tooth.
When no sufficient tooth structure left to place an inlay/onlay we should use
crown for tooth restoration.
We make inlays or onlays from porcelain, gradia or gold.
Porcelain inlay/onlay is made from special porcelain and has the same benefits as the Gradia. We use porcelain for inlays/onlays manufactured by the Japan Noritake.
Gradia inlay or onlays are made from special plastic. The colour can be set up the same as your surrounding teeth. Gradia manufactured by the Japan GC. We use Gradia from the year 1999 and every patient is very satisfied with that.
Gold inlays or onlays are made from gold, which is very persistent, precise, antibacterial but the colour is gold.
Fillings may reduce the strength of a natural tooth by up to 50%. Inlays and onlays recover natural tooth
strength by up to
75% and can last from 10 to 30 years.
